Sorting through the enormous selection of wedding rentals can be a big task, but it doesn’t have to be hard! Josephine Gandolfo from Party Rental Ltd. has tips to simplify your shopping.
Rental products are present at weddings all around the world, Josephine says, “because renting is usually cheaper than buying.” Plus, rental companies like Party Rental Ltd “handle the delivery, set up, and break down, saving couples money on labor costs.” All in all, Josephine says, renting is a great way to “create a unique and customized look that wouldn’t be possible by purchasing everything couples might want for their wedding.” Curating a wedding rental list that covers all the bases, however, can be a time-consuming journey. Fortunately, there are ways to make the process faster and easier. The key, says Josephine, is gathering necessary information before beginning the order, focusing on details, and sticking to your style.
Review important information
There are a lot of elements to consider when identifying your wedding rental needs. Before starting, think about when the wedding is happening, where it is going to be, and how many people will be attending. Josephine says, “Once the couple determines the date, venue, and guest list, it’s easy to navigate through the rest of the process.”
Determining the date will tell you which products are available on your wedding day. Determining the venue will also help narrow down the list. Different venues provide different equipment and have different rules. Josephine notes that “if the event is taking place outdoors vs. indoors” the rentals you may need will vary. Lastly, determining a guest count tells you the amount of seating, tables, and additional furniture you’ll want.
Remember the details
Josephine points out that “couples might not realize the level of detail that goes into placing a rental order.” While forming yours, imagine the different portions of your wedding, focusing on the details of each. Take the reception, for example. You might be renting “utensils and dishes for the main course and for the cake,” Josephine says. “Don’t forget ice buckets, tea and coffee cups, and other service items that will also be necessary during the meal.” And, if your cocktail hour will be held outside, consider climate control. “You may need to order fans or heaters to keep guests comfortable,” Josephine says. Walking through the itinerary also will help identify commonly overlooked products.
Define your style
Whether you’re renting tablecloths, furniture, or kitchen appliances, your style will influence the products you choose. If you’re unsure of the design you’re going for, Josephine says to tap into your “interests and hobbies, consider your aesthetic at home, or look at the style and architecture of your venue and choose a design that complements it.” You can also get inspiration from others. You could walk through one of the rental company’s design studios or look at wedding websites and magazines. Lately, Josephine sees people “using jewel-toned pastels and color blocking for a whimsical feel. Bold and luxurious linens and dramatic florals have also been popular.” Having a strong unifying theme will help you select the rentals that fit your wedding best.
From staging and flooring, to chafing dishes, to linens — the products that can be rented for weddings are endless. There is a lot to think about when sorting through the options. Utilizing the information you already have, staying mindful of the details, and remaining true to your style will help streamline your wedding rental planning.
